FAQ's

Is Naturopathic Medicine right for me?

Yes. Yes it is! I can say that without knowing you or your health concerns because I believe it’s right for everyone. How can preventative health care, encouragement to eat better and exercise more, and live a happier life not be good for everyone?

I believe in complimentary care between ND’s and MD’s and will never interfere with what your MD recommends. We might have different philosophical approaches and therapies but we both want the best for you, right?

Come see me if you are ready to take an active role in your health and to be encouraged to live the best life you can.

What health problems do you treat?

Naturopathic Doctors are trained to treat most things you would go see your GP for. We’re really good at taking the time to figure out the root cause of the problem and are adept at treating chronic issues that seem to puzzle the traditional medical system.

To name a few, here are some of the health concerns that people come to see me for:

  1. Digestive issues (gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, etc.)

  2. Low energy and fatigue

  3. Hormonal issues

  4. High stress

  5. Headaches

  6. Weight gain

  7. Acute child issues – colds/flu, chronic ear infections, picky eating, skin problems ,etc.

I also see lots of people who don’t have any current problems - they simply want to improve their diet, focus on exercise, and make sure they are living a healthy life.

What should I expect when I book my first appointment?

Once you decide you are ready to come and see me and you book an appointment (yay!) you will be prompted to sign up to my online Patient Portal and be asked to fill out my intake and consent form. At our first appointment we will do a lot of talking – mostly you will talk and I will listen. I’m a good listener. I will ask you questions about your health, your sleep, your exercise habits, stress, what you eat, etc. and we will talk until we run out of things to talk about (or until an hour goes by – whichever comes first)**. I will also perform a short physical exam which might include taking your blood pressure, listening to your heart, performing an abdominal exam, or looking in your ears, etc. depending on what is pertinent to your health concerns and goals. If I feel like I’ve gathered enough information and we’re ready to start making changes, I’ll give you some homework. I might ask you to drink more water, use the stairs at work, or stop eating so much Chicago Mix Popcorn (it’s so addictive!) and we’ll book our follow-up appointment.

**Disclaimer – If you are not a talker, don’t be scared. We’ll just talk about what needs to be talked about and I’ll send you on your way.

How much will this cost me?

Most extended health care plans cover Naturopathic Medicine. Look into it! You will be responsible for paying at the time of the appointment and will receive an invoice to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Any supplements you purchase are generally not covered by insurance but I tend not to recommend a lot. Pill burden is a real thing! When I come up with a treatment plan, supplements are always optional.
